So we are in full swing with rehearsals for the original play, Waiting On The Sun, written by Wayne J. Keeley and produced by me. It's taken some time to get where we are, but we now have both the perfect cast (actors Scott Kegler, Stefanie Jordan and Mike Ripollone) as well as an incredible script. A labor of love and quite the collaborative effort, Waiting On The Sun is nearly ready to venture out on the road!
Inspired by a real young man afflicted with Becker Muscular Dystrophy, Wayne got to know him during the morning commute to work in NYC. Hearing of his college antics and oft-racy adventures, Wayne created a toned-down version fit for the stage! For the entertainment of all, Waiting On The Sun takes you into a unique day in the life of Justin, a college student with a wacky rapper roommate, Zack. And Zack's got something up his sleeve to surprise Justin for his birthday! The play also brings to light the similarities people share, whether healthy or disabled. The general public will likely find out a thing or two about Becker MD.
Our little cast and crew, the five of us have developed a super rapport -- making Saturday rehearsals a great time. Don't get anyone laughing because it takes on a snowball effect and can throw the lot of us into fits. And heaven forbid someone ad-libs a great line, Wayne will be back on the computer to put it in the script and run off yet another new version (happens every week!)
Opening weekend is April 25 and 26 in Syosset, Long Island at the Stars of Tomorrow theatre. Stay tuned for times and additional dates and venues! This is a can't-be-missed performance!
